“Ah.”
“Say, Frannie,” she says, “how confident are you with your Japanese?”
“Pretty good,” I say, moving over to the couch. Kyle pulls her knees up under her, giving me room; she also slides the laptop a little bit towards me and points. “What’s this?”
“I was wondering if you could tell me,” she says, frowning. “I think it’s an order form.”
“Importing again?” I ask. I have to admit that, while being a little bit too quick for my tastes sometimes, Kyle’s extensive collection of Japanese video games made practicing my language comprehension a very fun thing. I watched her play, and she asked me what everything said. She herself was picking up bits here and there, and I’ve told her many times that she should take it as her elective language. Then again, she barely goes to class as it is. I hate her for that sometimes, as she’s still acing most of what she does take.
“Yeah, goin’ all-out. The PS2 just came out over there, and I’m thinkin’ about it,” she says, her eyes lighting up.
“Well, I hate to disappoint you,” I say, “but this says that it’s not out for another month.”
“What?!” Kyle says, suddenly bolting upright. “Are you sure?”
“See for yourself,” I say, pointing to a couple of characters. “That’s ‘month’, and that’s ‘four’.”
